Wisdom of Winter & The Big Reveal!!
Published 13 days ago • 3 min read
"Dance like a child"
In a dream, on the night she had an emergency surgery, my grandmother told me that February was going to be one of the hardest months, and the way through was to “dance like a child.” She was right, and I took her advice very literally.
This playlist has been my go-to: give it a listen & bust a move! Reply back with any bangers I should add to the playlist!
This winter has been a season full of so much joy, so much grief, so much growth — the loss of my grandmother, the passing of an old friend, the heartbreak of world events. The joys of dancing in the kitchen, long walks in the snow, a wild family cruise, authentically teaching, feeling deeply inspired, dreaming up future adventures, and my husband, Will, keeping me grounded and laughing through it all.
I am here. I am imperfect. I am showing up. I am grateful.
I will continue to dance like a child through it all.
Winter is associated with the water element. Water is the element of intuition, fluidity, and the most essential reservoir we pull from. Winter is a time to plant seeds, turn inward, and slow down.
I have been exploring: how can the elements of water and winter inform creativity?
Water reminds me that process doesn’t need to be rigid; it needs me to be fluid enough to trust my intuition and adjust before my cup runs dry and I burnout.
Winter is teaching me to stop rushing my process. When I rush, I get frustrated. When I slow down, I enjoy, and my work has better quality.
What I am learning most of all is that my creative practice requires nourishment, attention, adjustment, and readjustment-- as do all relationships.
A Few Fun Winter Updates:
New podcast: Kelly Eberle and I have been recording our new podcastfocusing on all things creativity!! Release date and all the left-brain-things to come, so stay tuned! Also,Kelly released a BADASS EP, and this song has been my go-to for kitchen dance parties.
Artist Retreat: My winter highlight was sneaking away for an artist retreat with inspiring women. We spent our days diving into our own creative projects, embracing nature, and nourishing each other. It was magical and deeply filled my cup this winter.
Magic in the Mundane: My mom goes ALL out for birthdays! This year, she set up a diner bar in the dining room where my dad cooked and she took orders. My parents are the goofiest, most creative, wonderful weirdos and I am so grateful for the ways they remind me to make magic out of the mundane.
Preston Slaughter and I are leading our next Creative Wellness Adventure Retreat inMazunte, Oaxaca, Feb 13-18, 2027, for 6 days of creative play, movement, nature, culture, and adventure.
Preston spent a month road tripping across Oaxaca in 2023 and scoped out the coolest spots for us, and as a Lebanese-Mexican-American, I am SO excited to return to my cultural roots and visit this part of the country with you all.
This retreat is a portal to your creative spirit. You’ll leave with a toolkit for emotional regulation, a deeper connection to your inner child, and the resilience to shape a life that feels truly authentic.
Mazunte is a backpacker's paradise with tons of cute coffee shops, local vendors, and restaurants. It's a small town along a string of beautiful coastal towns. Our home base is the cooolest!!!El Triángulo, a center for creativity, natural living, and personal expression. We view it as a "bougie ecolodge".
Spots are intentionally limited so we can keep this experience intimate. Grab a friend (buddy discounts!) or a few friends (group discounts!) or come solo and make new creative besties 👯
The most meaningful way I have been able to show up for my community this Spring has been teaching wellness skills to Hispanic youth in schools through the Virginia Hispanic Foundation's bilingual mentorship program. Later this month, I will be introducing clay play as a form of healing and agency, and I can't wait!.

How do you fill your cup? I just turned 33-- and the words that keep coming to mind: "I like who and how I am becoming". I entered a creative cocoon this past weekend at an artist retreat with inspiring women. We spent our days diving into our creative pursuits, embracing the magic of nature, sharing our talents, and nourishing each other through cooking, laughter, and dance. Going into this portal, I felt depleted. Life and the world continue to require more and more of all of us. Despite...
Remember in high school when you had a CD of all your favorite songs playing in the car 24/7? I deeply remember the songs from that time in my life, the ones that got me through. So I decided to make a 2025 playlist of the songs that carried me through the highs and lows of this year. It has been a wild ride, and I truly believe music heals. So… enjoy this playlist as you read along.😘 Break or Bloom? It's up to you. Feeling empowered after guiding an ATV waterfall hike during Waves of...
Travel, Identity, and Creativity Last month, Will and I traveled to Mexico City. This trip ended up meaning so much more to me than I expected and deeply reconnected me to my roots 💕 Something I don’t often share is my cultural identity. On my dad’s side, both of my great-grandparents are from Lebanon. They migrated to Mexico, where my grandparents met, and my dad was born. When my dad was a baby, my grandfather fled Mexico and came to the U.S., where he opened the first Mexican restaurant in...
